France is a country whose name has become a synonym of the word ‘tourism’. At times one almost feels tempted to think that all that the French are doing in France is vacationing and having fun. Why should the rest of the world then be denied of an experience that will surely provide soothing memories during the gruelling hours of the day for years to come. Visiting France would probably be on the ‘must do’ list of many of us. Depending on your interests you can tailor your trip as the country offers a lot of different experiences.

For the Thrill seekers

1. Paragliding on Mont Blanc

Mont Blanc is the highest mountain of Europe and jumping off from that height will provide a good litmus test of your thrillability. Paragliding is a great experience and couple it with the snow covered French Alps and you got a definite ‘must do’. To get to the top though, you will have to burn some calories and trek to the top as you won’t get a helicopter lift. .

Formula One2. Try out the Formula One Circuit

The Formula One Grand prix Monaco is considered the toughest circuit in the Championship and is the only street course of the race. You can enjoy first hand the thrill of being an F1 driver and experience what the big guns go through on the streets of Monte Carlo.

Tour de France3. Experience Tour de France

Map out your own route for your shot at glory. Tour de France needs no introduction; it’s the race to end all races. Grab a bike and hit the roads, a good idea would be to take along a cycling guide who will also be helpful in gauging your route according to the difficulty level you want to set; easy, medium or full on.

1. Hot air ballooning

Balloon FranceTake a loved one for a balloon ride. Hot air ballooning started in France, so what better place to try it out than a beautiful, scenic and culturally rich Loire Valley. The trip over the valley lasts for around 3 hours and gives you the chance to take in the scenery and enjoy a memorable sunrise.

Cities like Venice, Rome and Paris attract love birds from around the world. Eiffel Tower enjoys the status of the most visited tourist attraction of the most visited city in the world, Paris. Go to the top and take in the views of the beautiful city in all its glory. On your way down, indulge your companion in any of the two restaurants; The Jules Verne or Altitude 95.

3. Enjoy a boat trip

Nature looks prettier when in the company of someone special, what better way to do this than while sailing on the water. Hire a canal boat, enjoy the serene surroundings at a leisurely pace of 5km an hour, and get off the boat to explore the country life; the castles and the villages.

Once a hunting lodge, now it’s a grand estate, thanks to King Louis XIV. Chateau is and has been for centuries a symbol of the French royalty and its affluence. Napoleon’s bed room, Hall of Mirrors and the gardens are main attractions of the palace. It’s open to public from Tuesday to Sunday.

3. Be a part of the Bastille Day

Bastille DayJuly 14th marks the storming of Bastille Prison and the start of French Revolution. It is celebrated as a national holiday in France but now it’s more about fire works, partying and having fun. Experience how the French celebrate, and one thing that is a guarantee is lots of fine food and wine.
