CN TowerToronto is the largest city in Canada and one of the largest cities in all of North America. This is a city that is a tourist destination for people around the world. There are so many things to see and do in a city this size that it is usually impossible to do it all in one trip. However, there are five things that you absolutely should not miss during your visit to the city so, even if you don’t have time to do everything that you might like to do during a visit to “T.O.”, you should try and make these five experiences a priority.

The CN Tower

The CN tower is probably the most instantly recognizable landmark in all of Canada. This was the world’s tallest free standing structure for more than thirty years, and was only recently surpassed by a new construction in Dubai. This iconic tower dominates the landscape of downtown Toronto, and is the busiest attraction in the city. It features an interpretive center, a lookout deck and a restaurant at the top of the tower that is renowned for its spectacular dining. The tower also features a glass floor level where you can walk out and stare down directly at the city below you. Though it’s not for the faint of heart, the glass floor is one of the most popular attractions in the tower.

Casa Loma

Casa Loma

A true castle in the heart of Toronto, Casa Loma is another of the most popular tourist hotspots in the city. The castle regularly features special events and tours of the interior of the building are also available. A favorite spot for many photo shoots and movie crews, the site is often bustling with activity of all kinds. Keep your eyes open and you just might see a star!

Hockey Hall Of Fame Museum

The Hockey Hall of Fame

Most know that nothing is as tied up with Canadian culture and passion as the sport of hockey. Any fan of the game would do well to stop at the hockey hall of fame, located in downtown Toronto. This shrine to the greatest players of the game features many different exhibits and galleries, and it is easy for any fan of the game to spend an afternoon lost in its rooms. Delve into hockey’s history and lose yourself in the mesmerizing trophies and memorabilia that this attraction offers.

Rogers Center

The Rogers Center

Formerly known as the Skydome, the Rogers Center is the largest venue in the city. Home to the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Argonauts, the Rogers Center features a gigantic retractable roof that allows the open sun for games when the weather permits while also allowing for a warm and dry playing field during inclement weather. The stadium is huge and tours are also offered for those who just wish to see the facility. The Rogers Center is located in the shadow of the CN tower and both attractions can easily be visited on the same day.

ROM: Royal Ontario Museum

The ROM

The Royal Ontario Museum is the largest Museum within Toronto and has recently been renovated. It’s instantly recognizable exterior makes it a unique building that cannot be missed. It features natural history exhibits and cultural exhibits as well as playing host to many of the worlds premiere traveling museum exhibitions. For those travelers that enjoy the fine arts, this museum is sure to fit your fancy.

As stated earlier, Toronto has several other attractions within its limits but these are the most popular. Whatever your fancy, one of these attractions is sure to have you awestruck. Of course, if you plan to see it all, you may want to extend that week of vacation to a month because Toronto has a lot to offer. To save on your vacations, why not stay at these affordable Toronto accommodations: the three star hotels - Bond Place Hotel Toronto and the Novotel North York Toronto or the five-star hotel Sutton Place Hotel Toronto.

  1. Colin @ Toronto Welders Says:

    Cool summary.

I’d like to add to that list:
    * Walk around China town. Especially on a Saturday or a Sunday when the markets spill out onto the street. Get some fruit for the rest of your walk.
    * Walk from there through Kensignton Market. Hey they didn’t film the King of Kensington here for no reason. Also, try on pedestrian Sundays (once a month during summer).
    * Trinity Bellwoods Park is near there; and all the festivals that go on there…
    * And it’s not that far from the Drake Hotel where you’ll see movers and shakers of the fashion and entertainment world - especially during the Toronto Film Festival.

    Enjoy,
    A proud Toronto-ian
