The all inclusive vacation has become one of the most popular ways for people to take a holiday in recent years. This type of vacation offers a few advantages and disadvantages, which we’ll go over, but this can be a very cost effective way to enjoy a holiday. Depending on what you look for in a trip and what needs you have, this can be an excellent choice. On the other hand, for certain kinds of vacationers an all inclusive package might not be for them.

There are two primary types of all inclusive vacations – the all inclusive resort destination and the all inclusive cruise. There are fewer all inclusive cruises because typically there will be many extra costs for port fees and other travel costs. However, there is an abundance of all inclusive holiday packages that include airfare, hotels, food, and drinks, along with some activities that are offered to tropical destinations around the world. Bermuda, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Mexico are among the many places that offer these all inclusive package vacations.

The best thing about these vacations is their cost and ease. There is no hassle in booking an all inclusive vacation package since it is all completed in one fell swoop; whereas, on a normal holiday you might have to book a flight, transportation to a hotel, living accommodations, pick out restaurants, decide which activities to participate in and more, but with an all inclusive resort that is all taken care of from the outset. Also, because of the package deal these holidays tend to be the most affordable way to go on vacation. Especially when you consider the cost of food and beverages into a holiday, you can save hundreds of dollars by going to an all inclusive resort rather than by booking a more traditional vacation.

The only downside is that you are somewhat limited to the resort, or you defeat the purpose of saving yourself that time and money. Many people simply want to lie in the sun and enjoy the pool or beach, and for them the all inclusive vacation is perfect. For those who like to get out and experience local culture and see the sites and sounds that are off the tourists’ beaten path, the all inclusive vacation may not be for them. You also need to read the fine print carefully when booking your vacation. Some all inclusive packages will note that they only provide for one meal or a set number of alcoholic beverages, whereas others provide all meals and drinks regardless. Be sure you know what you’re paying for before you book your vacation.

So, there are ups and downs to an all inclusive resort vacation, as there are to any type of vacation. For those who want to just enjoy themselves and to be able to afford a vacation they might not otherwise be able to, an all inclusive vacation package can be a great alternative. For travelers who prefer getting off the beaten path and immersing themselves in local culture, a more traditional vacation may be the way to go instead.

We have went to several all inclusive resorts. I would have to say that the majority of them are very nice and give great value for dollar spent. I especially like the fact that you can eat and drink whenever you want and how much you want without having to worry about the money.

I think while more and more people are putting their own holidays together thanks to the ease of using the internet for travel, there is definitely still a group of people that feel the package holiday means less stress and is therefore the right option for them.
