Tourism in Alaska seems to grow every year. As the world shrinks due to the increased ease of travel, many people are beginning to look further afield in an attempt to find more adventurous and exciting vacations that push far beyond the boundaries of a traditional holiday. Not that many years ago, people thought the most adventure they would ever want is a trip to the tropics or perhaps to Europe. Now, however, travel to Asia, Africa, South America, and Australia are all quite normal. People want to explore the extremes, they want to experience the Sahara, climb Mount Everest, and see Alaska.

Alaska is a great place to visit that with an extreme environment but it is not as far away as the Australian Outback, for some. You can’t find many places more extreme or exciting on the North American continent than Alaska. There are some great tourist attractions within the northernmost state. A popular one is Mount McKinley, also known as Denali. This is the highest mountain peak in North America, and for those who have an appreciation of the natural wonders of the world, it is quite a sight.

In Juneau, there is the Alaska State Museum. This museum features displays on the native history of Alaska as well as the American history of the state, including displays and educational material on the sale of Alaska to the United States by Russia.

If during your stay in Alaska you find yourself in Anchorage (almost every flight trip will require you to fly into Anchorage first), you might want to stay at the Clarion Suites in downtown Anchorage. You’ll be close to some local attractions and will have a very well appointed suite to spend your nights in. The hotel also features a gym and pool for those who stay health conscious while on vacation.

If you do decide to head to the aforementioned museum in Juneau, you should try staying at the Best Western Country Lane Inn. The best thing about staying in Alaska is that no matter where you are at, you’re going to be surrounded by the wild, natural beauty of Alaska. This is a smaller hotel with only 55 rooms, ensuring that you’ll receive personal and hands on service from the staff on site.  The facilities are sparse, but in Alaska, it’s not about the hotel, it’s about the natural world around you. However, the hotel is very clean and does have a small business center and internet access, so you can stay in touch with the rest of the world during your stay in Alaska.
